Weekly blog for 1/26/15 Alabama Moon

Prompt: Draw 3 objects that represent you're reading. Explain how they connect to the book you've been reading

For my first object I chosen is a boys orphanage because thats where Moon lived for about three days. I chose this because it represents a huge part in what I'm reading because then he wouldn't have met Kit, or Hal. I also chose this because this was a main part in his adventure towards going to Alaska. As Moon kept mentioning he wanted to break free and that he was going to take Kit with him.

For my second object I chose a shelter kind of like the one Moon and his dad had in the forest (except their shelter was more to the ground to keep from being seen or caught). This represents what I'm reading because for all of Moons life he has always lived in the forest and that shelter was his home. This also represents what I'm reading because it shows how even in the forest they managed to survive and he was happy.

My third and final object is a wheel barrel. I chose this because it represents Moons love towards his father. When his father broke his leg, Moon took his day everywhere he needed to go on the wheel barrel. The day his father died he also took his father in the wheel barrel to the small grave they had where they had buried his mother as well.

Weekly Blog for 1/20/15 The Death Cure

º Write about how one character feels. Write about a time you felt that way, too.

º Write a summary of what you just read.

The main character, Thomas, feels sad and angry because of Teresa. He feels this way because after all that she has put him through. They where best friends went through the maze together then in the Scorch Trials she's "forced" to act mean to him because she thought it would be the only way to save him. Then the kiss they shared Thomas had all though it was real, the feelings everything. So when she betrayed him by leaving him in the gas chamber he felt like his heart was broken and he was very sad and angry that he couldn't be able to stop her.

At one point I felt like this to because once I was going to go out with my friends somewhere I think the mall, and when I got there they where all there so I started to walk up to them and the started running towards me. However they weren't running at me, they where running at the new girl from school and after they left me outside while they all crowded the girl. I felt super sad and betrayed because I was going through some tough times with my family and now that they completely abandoned me I felt hopeless and really really sad.

I read the part where Thomas had just got out of seeing Newt at the Crank Palace, (Newt had The Flare) and now munnies (the ones immune to The Flare)had taken him there. They find him already to late that The Flare had taken most of him and he told them all to leave, that It would be better that way. With all the heart break they left and went back to the city of Denver where they where ambushed by the Right Arm (which where supposed to be the good guys, said by Gally).

They took down the guards inside of the place that they where being held and a guard, Brenda, and Thomas left to go speak with the "Boss". They get into a pitch black ally where there is a hoard of Cranks who suspiciously opened the way for them to drive through but then all the Cranks start to attack. They eventually got out with the van (what they where driving) all beat up and damaged yet they had made it to the "boss" of Right Arm.

Weekly Blog for 1/12/15 Call Me Marìa

º Are the characters realistic (do they seem like they could be read people)? Why
or why not?

º Describe the major conflict. What side are you on?
º Describe the main characters.

The characters are realistic in Call Me Marìa by Judith Ortiz Cofer. The main character Marìa is realistic because she just a regular kid that likes to make her parents happy. She lives on an island in Puerto Rico which other people do to, and she leaves the island with her father to live in America. Leaving her mother behind because she is a teacher and worked hard to get that job, but mostly because it is her home. To me all of that is realistic, so is Marìa's character. She's always trying to make her parents happy, its like her job.

The main character's name is Marìa. She is crazy and loves to make people smile. She likes to express herself through poetry. Shes usually always happy and shes never really met other people except those back Puerto Rico so shes shy. She talks different like instead of saying just plain out I want to learn and master English she would say "... conquer English, become strong ..."

The major conflict was when her mother and father where always arguing about whether to stay on the island where her father would always be sad and depressed because he misses his life in America. Or to go to America where her mother will be sad and depressed because she will miss her teaching job after she worked so hard for it. I'm on the mothers side because after all the hard work she has put to getting that job and keeping up to it then she would just throw it away to live somewhere she has never been before. Its not fair to her.

Weekly Blog for 1/5/15 When Was The Last Time You Did Something For The First Time?

The first time I ever tried Momias was on New years when my brother had a party and his friends came over. My mother had made food just tacos when we thought she wasn't going to bring any more out. Then she brought this plate and I didn't know what it was so I backed away from it. Momias, the ones my mother made where made out of bacon, bread, and strawberry jam weird combination but it was surprisingly good. My brother had start to freak out saying that he hasn't had these in forever so me being curious I went to go try one.

I had eaten a large part of the I walked over and grabbed one took a bit then grabbed three more, no lie. My mom had to make like three batches of mumias because we kept eating them all. My brothers friends, Victor and Isa where fighting over which food was better the momias, or the tacos my mom had made earlier while I tried to sneak over and grab some more. Which caused me to get smacked over the head by my fantastic mother who told me I couldn't eat anymore, so I was like "challenge accepted" and kept going ninja everywhere trying to get to the amazing plate that had the momias and they had like this glow. It was calling me.

To say that this was my first time I became obsessed over them. Yet my mom hasn't made them again since then(*so sad*). I did however eat the last one which I was very proud of because I did it in secret (no, everyone was just doing something so I just walked straight into the kitchen). In the end we ended up running out of bread in the morning for breakfast and supposedly it was my fault so I had to buy the bread with the money I had gotten for Christmas.
